This study was carried out to investigate the grass anatomical structure of muscles of mastication of the Korean native goat. The description was based on the dissection of fifteen Korean native goats fixed with embalming fluid.
The results were as follows:
1. Muscles of mastication were composed of M. masseter, M. pterygoideus lateralis, M. pterygoideus medialis, M. tempoealis and M. digastricus.
2. M. masseter was divided into three layers according to the fiber direction; superficial, middle and deep layers:
3. Bath M. pterygoideus lateralis and M. pterygoideus medialis were composed of only one muscle layer.
4. M. digastricus was clearly separated into larger rostral belly arid smaller caudal belly by a prominent Intermediate tendon.
